Overview

The Domestic Operations Lead has high visibility, is the primary contact for cartage including pickup and deliveries through our in-house cartage partner, warehouse and dock operations and support for domestic routing including airfreight, LTL, FTL and overall support of branch operations. Ideal candidate will have two years’ experience in freight forwarding and one to three years of team lead or some supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily domestic service and operations workload activities as it relates to cartage, freight movement and dispatch pickup/delivery quotes 

  • Ensure safe working environment through consistent practice of safety programs and procedures. 

  • Assist with Warehouse Loading/Unloading/Staging/Scanning, as needed. 

  • Consistently provide team coaching, training and development on a daily basis.  

  • Assist the Operations Supervisor in managing functions in the warehouse such as inbound receipts, outbound shipment, storage, stocking and inventory control. 

  • Manually review all lanes by transit time. 

  • Assist Operations Supervisor with project rollouts, as needed. 

  • Assist in escalation request, research and address issues with employees. Update process to fit resolutions and continue process improvement flow. 

  • Communicate quarterly and annually goals and monitor employee’s goals progress 

  • Quoting, tracking, and tracing domestic freight shipments moving via air/ground on a daily basis. Track overhead shipments daily and route accordingly. 

  • Route freight shipments across multiple transportation modes and services based upon client requests. 

  • Proactively communicate with clients regarding status of freight. 

  • Manage daily on-time and defect codes, carrier re-weights and ensure all masters rated. 

  • Assist in compiling customer specific key performance indicator (KPI) reports on a weekly/monthly basis as needed. 

  • Ensure paperwork, labeling and scanning for accuracy. 

  • Understand the requirements/expectations of handling shipments of consequence – NFO, high-value, date/time specific, etc. 

  • Other duties and responsibilities will be assigned as business demands deem necessary.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 Years’ Experience 

  • SAP, AS400 & CargoWise Experience is Preferred 

  • Requires interpersonal skills to manage center operations, customers, and operations personnel.  

  • Understanding knowledge of freight forwarding Routing and Quoting.  

  • Must be computer literate & have knowledge of both Microsoft Word & Excel.  

  • Must be able to interact effectively with personnel at all levels of employment.  

  • Provide assistance and support to all internal and external customers 

  • Provide a climate for motivation.

  • Emphasizing continuing development to provide opportunities for future growth and advancement.
