Overview

AIT is seeking a City Director responsible for leading the Los Angeles, CA market. The ideal candidate will provide daily operational oversight and organizational management of the LAX station of one of the premier freight forwarders in the US market. This role will be responsible for managing the LAX P&L to accomplish profitability and growth objectives, in an efficient and high-quality manner. The role will be accountable for the following; recruiting, developing and motivating staff to provide a world class customer experience and meet or exceed client expectations. In addition, equipped all stations to have the necessary tools in place to succeed and expand their business levels in both domestic and international product line in a sustained fashion.

Responsibilities

  • Create and develop the Los Angeles operations strategy of AIT, i.e., implement and execute company operating processes and procedures uniformly for the efficient and profitable management of the Los Angeles market. 
  • P&L management to ensure financial goals and budgets are met and develop short-term actions to address any budgetary shortfalls.   
  • Provide daily P&L management of the station, and ensure necessary tools, processes and metrics are in place to ensure growth, service and profitability goals accomplished.
  • Be actively involved and in front of clients to develop revenue. Service Champion of field and sector sales within the region to exceed growth objectives in both international and domestic products.
  • Manage and communicate with AIT’s carriers ensuring best value and service vs. objectives. Ensure providers meet the scope of SLA and agreed terms of service in a consistent and reliable fashion.
  • Work Collaboratively with sales, key account management to ensure service execution and reliability.
  • Provide the stations operational teams with daily guidance & leadership as it relates to general leadership, communication, human resources, margin management, revenue opportunities and process standardization & KPI execution.  
  • Accountable for the professional development of direct reports to ensure proper goal setting, training and project requirements are met.  
  • Communicate and interact effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds
  • Responsible for modeling and actioning decisions in accordance with our core values.    
  • Support and develop food logistics revenue and operational growth strategy – international and domestic.
  • Oversee and support general LAX facility building needs. Specific to safety, security, training, HR policy, cultural goals, & general maintenance upkeep.
  • Ensure the operational teams remain compliant with the various regulatory agencies. (TSA, customs, and other governmental agencies).
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe and secure facility for our employees and customers in a 24/7 operating environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • The wage range for this position is $148,300.00-$213,600.00 and may vary based on geography as well as relative knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience

Other Skills We Hope to See:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 15 years of freight forwarding experience, with large scale airfreight operational background desired.  
  • Minimum of 5 years multi station P&L experience required.
  • Experienced with diversified freight forwarding products including domestic, logistics, and international product lines required.  
  • Experience of working across multiple geographies.
  • Experienced in directing and ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures, metrics, and compliance (global & domestic)
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral skills, and the ability to make concise & compelling presentations
  • Ability to develop highly collaborative and productive relationships internally.
  • Process driven and always seeking for continuous improvement.
  • Displays mature judgement and decision-making skills.
