Overview

The International Operations Supervisor will supervise the import/export and transshipment of materials, equipment, products, packages and documents including fulfillment of customs requirements. This role will performance management and professional development of the International department. The International Operations Supervisor will train and develop international operations agents and assign work and resources to teammates. This role will supervise relationships with international service providers and partners throughout the globe, being the liaison for the international vendors to manage shipment bookings, ensuring timely transfers from logistics providers' warehouses and onward to final destinations, as appropriate.

Responsibilities


  • Supervise the import process, customs documentation, shipping, and receiving of foreign shipments to ensure correct arrival time. Ensure compliance with the home and foreign country government laws and customs regulations

  • Hire, train and develop team to ensure company expectations are met and manage underperformance as necessary. Conduct weekly 1:1's in order to effectively coach and motivate the team through performance KPI's and metrics, individual goals and development opportunities via career-pathing discussions. Monitor staff schedules, overtime and absences

  • Provide guidance in import/export assignments, related interaction, and negotiation

  • Interpret contract terms/conditions for export/import implications and provides direction in all phases of international logistics

  • Support the development of policies and procedures to ensure on-schedule delivery of shipments and compliance with relevant regulations. Execute all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), KPIs, trainings, and all other assignments



  • Responsible for the operation of the office when the manager is absent


  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

Education
• High School Diploma or GED (Required)

• Some College/Associate's Degree (Preferred)

Experience
• 1+ years experience in people management (Preferred) and

• 3+ years experience in International Freight Forwarding operations (Required)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Microsoft Office Suite and computer Skills Medium

• Ability to handle conflicts with positive resolution Medium

• Strong oral and written communication skills Medium

• Ability to work flexible hours and in a high-volume, high-pressure fast work environment Medium

• Working knowledge of international air, ocean, and customs brokerage processes Medium

• Working knowledge in Transportation Management System (TMS) Medium

• Quality and service level agreements High

Licenses and Certifications

• - International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (Required) and

• - ATA DGR (Dangerous Goods Regulations) (Required) and

• - CargoWise Certification (Required) and

• - Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) (Required)
